When we are facing a time of physical illness and suffering, so many fears arise:
Will I come through this time and get back to normal life? What does the future hold for me, and for my family? Will I lose my job or financial security? Will I be disabled, or disfigured, or am I even facing death? What lies beyond this life? What is the purpose for all this difficulty?
In all of the confusion and disappointment of physical illness, we come to the end of our own strength and resources. We realize that we cannot make the situation better by our own power, or solve it quickly as we are accustomed to do with life’s problems. We need help – from our medical team, from our friends and family, and most of all, from God.
The Bible encourages us to cry out to God in times of trouble. It teaches us that God is loving, forgiving, gentle, and powerful. He is the Great Physician, and He knows our needs even before we can find the words to express them. The Bible also encourages us to join in the struggle of others by praying for them. Prayer is the most tangible way to acknowledge our dependence on God and to express love for a suffering friend.
We cannot wait to welcome you, along with your family and friends, to a Prayer for the Sick event. We guarantee that you will all feel surrounded by the love and hope that only God can bring.
In Matthew 11:28 Jesus said,
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
The Prayer for the Sick event starts with a time of Christian worship through beautiful music chosen to bring us into the presence of our God. We then move to a time of reflection and repentance. Jesus healed so many people in so many ways during His earthly ministry. Now He is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven, and He beckons us to repent and understand that He is near. He wants to bring deep spiritual rest and healing to all of us.
The Prayer for the Sick event ends with a time of guided prayer for you in all aspects of your suffering. We invite your friends and family to participate as you receive prayers for healing, for comfort, for guidance, and for hope.
When you register for the event, you will be contacted by a member of our prayer team with the opportunity to share whatever details you would like to give about your illness, your immediate needs, and your overriding concerns. We can then share this context at the time of the event and pray over you in a more specific way, but you are under no pressure to share details you would rather keep private. The Lord knows our deepest desires and concerns, and He will meet you in that time!
We’ll end our time together with an encouraging song and closing prayer.
